The series plays on the fact that those around him see him as a frightening genius, but inside he is an alarmist who is simply trying to survive and not reveal how little he understands. Gradually the story becomes warmer, because his failures help him remain humane, not arrogant and support others who are just as lost. There are a lot of magical duels, unusual spells, friendships with monsters, conflicts with arrogant heroes and unexpected turns where he accidentally saves the city, just trying to find a way out of another awkward situation. This anime is for those who love a strong but funny main character and stories where victory always comes in an unconventional way.
